A David Lynch film
- Blue credits links with the title of the film.
-'Blue Velvet song plays in credits which also links in with the title of the film.
-The blue curtain moves in the credits which creates suspence as it looks mysterious.
- The opening cretits show a white picket fence which gives the impression of a typical american place. One scene starts with a picture of a pin up girl which is also very typical.
-The camera moves to underneath the picket fence to zoom in on the grass and insects beneath. This gives the impression that something bad is going to happen and everything is not as good as it seems.
-The first character we see is watering the gardenw which appears to be a typical day. The camera pans to the hose tap which appears to be leaking and foccuses on the sound. The camera then shows the man watering the garden again and then zooms in on the hose tangled up. All through this the opening music is still playing which is happy. This contrastes with the susence building up. The camera focusses on the man again and we see him fall to the ground and get the hosepipe stuck round his neck. The music is still playing but as the camera moves down for a close up of the ground around him the music turns sinsister and we see whats beneath. The camera makes the grass and insects surroundings look sinister and larger than life as the camera angle is taken from below.
-The lighthing in the whole opening is natural lighting as it is all fimed outside.
